SUMMER CAMP!
Summer School on Tropical Diseases, a check point on my bucket list in 2019.
When I first heard about it I said to myself:
How would it be to see with my own eyes, to touch with my own hands, to feel with my own soul the wanders of Egypt?
Let’s do this!
I took the bull by the horns and decided to enroll. A rush of feelings that never have I ever felt before, fear mixed with curiosity, anxiety fused with thrill, a bunch of emotions that, I have never felt before.
All said and done, I was going to Egypt!
A dream came true, but how does a dream looks like in reality?
I can tell you how my Egyptian dream looked like, it was tall, curly hair and it had…Got you, I’m kidding, or maybe not, but let’s get back on track!
To sum up the entire experience would be extremely difficult, almost impossible, you have to see it with your own eyes, and trust me it is worthy. I cannot explain you how it is to ride the camel for the first time, looking at the ancient Pyramids, how it is to hike in a starry night on the Sinai Mountain just to see the sunrise, I cannot tell you how it is to take the first dip into the Red Sea, and admire the mesmerising colours of the Blue Lagoon waves.
There is much passion, intensity and fervour that tie the knot between me and this places that simply cannot be explained.
How many times in your life has it happened to you to go to bed completely drained out of energy, at 2 am, and still excited to give it a run at 7?
Talking about the scientific program I have to say it is very well organized and complex. We all attended different courses related to infectious diseases in three hospitals. Not only it was a great chance to see a different medical system but also to see the specific tropical patient with a pathology you do not find in other regions. We all attended the theoretical courses where everything was explained, just to be sure we all acquire the same information. We also attended clinical sessions where we had the chance to get in contact with the patients and do the clinical examination.
Work and having fun go hand in hand!
SCMSA Summer School on Tropical Diseases is the place where wanders can happen!
When you discover that nothing is that far from your home, fear turns in love and every dream can come true.
However, the only way to understand the true meaning of my words is by allowing yourself to live your dream, to make, at least this time, a spontaneous decision for yourself: apply for the Tropical Diseases Summer School and discover the tremendous world of Egypt!
